In-Law Gifts

Last Thursday (exactly a week after *my* birthday) was my father-in-law's birthday. We saw them the day after, but try as I might, I wasn't able to finish the hat I was knitting for him from the pattern that Pancake Goddess suggested. I finished it yesterday morning and tried it on (check out the funky decreases at the top!):

And here it is after being blocked:

For my mother-in-law's birthday (still a month away), I've started knitting a collection of dishcloths. She likes to bleach them, so wants them all in white. I made one, using my favorite dishcloth pattern ever:
I also cast on for a Mason-Dixon dishcloth, but would like to give her a big assortment of cloths--anyone have a favorite pattern that they'd suggest. It needs to be something that works well in solid white! :)

The hat does look great. There are a bunch of dishcloth patterns out there that have just knit+purl patterns on them, or you could chart them yourself. You can make letters, pictures, etc. Drive me nuts, they would, but maybe you'd like it.

You could do your kids in texture!

Hey - that's my favorite dishcloth pattern, too!
