The Mold Remediation Specialists showed up a little after 8:00 am and immediately taped off the addition and started running the negative air machine:
It actually had a scary-looking 'WARNING! DANGER! DO NOT ENTER!" sign taped to the plastic at first--should have taken a picture of that ;)
They got rid of the rest of the vermiculite (I think 5 or 6 more contractor waste sized bags, plus G. had taken 5 large black garbage bags out this weekend), and then they started spraying all the openings, spraying deep into each joist space. Here's a look down our bedroom:
And the opening that allowed them to spray under the bathroom, and in the storage area:
Now it has to dry (luckily no rain predicted--and all the windows upstairs are open), and then the floor can be put back together.
The plan now is for G. and I to clean the upstairs of dust and wipe down the tile, so that tomorrow they can seal the grout. Then we can use the water in the bathroom to scrub the cork floor in C's old room, so it can dry. We'll then stain the unfinished doors in the addition, and then varnish the doors, the trim, and the cork floor. The carpet will be installed on Tuesday, and then we can think about moving upstairs so that our room will be empty and we can get it ready for the girls to move into.
wow...
I have to say that I FINALLY--after a month (the rain came in the early morning of April 3rd)--feel comfortable enough to be seriously thinking about actually moving upstairs. Now the design fun can begin! :)
