And here we go again...

I was pretty happy with the way the cardigan was turning out. (One sleeve is nearly completed!) So last night I had G. try it on. The top of the sleeve (top of the shoulder) as well as the armpit area seemed to balloon out! He said it was just fine, but I knew better. If I'm putting a year's worth of work into this thing, he's gonna wear it! I did some mathematical calculations and I *think* I can make it work better. I'll be decreasing the fullest part of the sleeve by 16 stitches and I'll work the decreases down the sleeve every 7 rows instead of every 4. That should give me the right length AND trim down the size of the sleeve.

Of course, you DO know the end result of all this, right? I think I am cutting out enough stitches that I would have had enough yarn to do the whole cardigan all in one color.

I wanna cry...

Arrgh! I'm glad he properly appreciates this cardigan!

Maybe I shouldn' even say it, but could you frig the sleeve and knit it all in one color now? Or should I not even go there? The stripes actually look good, I think...

omg, what a trial. That is a sweater FULL of love.

and I remembered T likes Geronimo - that's what made me choose it. Unfortunately Jeremiah didn't get into it much, but he did have a little breakthrough with reading today. phew!

I definitely thought about making the sweater all one color since I have enough yarn. However, I bought GREEN buttons for the front (sigh) and the green stripe has now grown on me! Oh, and I can't return the green yarn either... I figure I can incorporate the green and purple wool into my eventual felted bag.

And cool about Jeremiah's reading breakthrough! Has he already gone the Capn. Underpants route? As much as I hated those, they really got T. going!

Or maybe I'll end up doing nothing with it... :)

Stripe! Leave the stripe! It'll give you something else to smile about (besides Greg) whenever you see the sweater. :-)

Ohhh, honey. It makes you cry now -- think "process, process, process," not "product." One happy little stitch at a time.

And you will Never Ever Make This Mistake Again. No, really, you won't. And it will all be worth it.

And G. had better wear it every stinking day from October to April. Really. From now until the end of winters.
