The feeding of the Schwa

Last time I posted about C's pet snake, we were having trouble getting her to eat. C. called the local (wonderful) pet store, Hoffer's, and they suggested that we try fish. That day we bought 5 rosy red feeder fish, took them home, and Schwa snarfed them down in no time flat.

This time we took photographs (so skip the rest of the post if you don't wish to be "entertained" by watching a snake eat....)

Here she is BEFORE we put the fish in her dish:
Once she smelled them, she made her way over...
I love this picture of her tongue, as she's smelling where they are:
GOT ONE!
She carries it out of the water to eat:chomp, chomp...
And then back for more...

I love the photos! My sister had a garter snake (that's what Schwa is, right?) when we were growing up and he was a great pet.

She must have been HUNGRY! I'm so glad you got what she needed.

Odd that fish would do the trick -- how many, how often, does she need crickets or something too?

Got to love good pet store folk.

My lord, this makes me happy to not be a snake. I've never felt to grateful to be human.

You're wonderful pet owners. :-)

Hey! I've lost your email addy in the switch to the new computer...could you email me so I can recapture? I just wanted to thank you for the comment and say no new hats are necessary! We're still well-stocked, and I will go to Target this week, too!

Thanks! Hope your holidays were all that and a bag of chips.
